Graftlike interpolymer complexes from poly(2‐vinylpyridine) and end‐sulfonic acid polystyrene and polyisoprene: Intermediates to noncovalently bonded block copolymer‐like micelles

摘要: The complexation between narrow molecular weight distribution poly(2-vinylpyridine) (P2VP) and polystyrene (suPS) or polyisoprene (suPI) end-functionalized with one sulfonic acid group was examined in tetrahydrofuran dilute solutions by a combination of static dynamic laser light scattering. Both apparent weight-average (M w,app ) hydrodynamic radius (R h the complexes exhibited maximum at certain molar ratio suPS chains to P2VP monomeric units. This indicated that backbone may be saturated grafted because repulsion chains. By changing mass from 100,000 30,000 g/mol, values M R decreased. When suPI used instead suPS, similar trends were observed. In latter case, it possible prepare block copolymer-like micelles transferring P2VP/suPI blend decane, which is selective solvent for PI. non-covalent-bonded polymeric micelle characteristics investigated as function acid/2-vinylpyridine units well temperature.
