Non-adherence to continuous treatment and associated factors: prevalence and determinants in adults 40 years and older

摘要: This study investigates factors associated with non-adherence to continuous drug therapy in individuals 40 years and older. A population-based survey was conducted Cambe, Parana State, Brazil. Treatment adherence assessed the four-item Morisky et al. medication scale. The also socio-demographic variables health services access use of medication. Among 1,180 interviewees, 78% reported medication, 55%. analyzed 639 individuals, majority female, ranging from 59 age, low schooling, socioeconomic stratum C (on a scale E). Prevalence 63.5%. Mean therapeutic complexity 8.1. After adjusted analysis, following remained non-adherence: not being assisted by community workers, discontinuous high frequency throughout day. results indicate prevalence non-adherence, potentially negative impacts for society.
