摘要: A major justifi cation for taxonomic and biogeo- graphic research is its assumed ability to predict the presence of traits in a group which trait has been observed only representative sub- set group. Such predictors are regularly used by breeders interested choosing potential sources disease pest resistant germ plasm cultivar improvement, genebank managers organize collection, germplasm collectors planning gather maximum diver- sity. The present study tests biogeographic associations with 10,738 evaluations, derived from literature records, 32 diseases fi ve classes organisms (bacteria, fungi, insects, nematodes, virus). data show that ratings Colorado potato beetle (Lep- tinotarsa decemlineata (Say)) one pathogen (Potato M Carlavirus) reliably predicted both host taxonomy climatic variables. While it logical initially take geographic origin into account while screening materials resis- tances, such will hold small subset resistance traits. Based on these results, more effective strategy than prediction probably careful core collections.
