摘要: Background: Both pulmonary and systemic circulation must be maintained by a single pump in Fontan circulation. This unique property of may related to decreased exercise tolerance or increased instantaneous postoperative mortality rate, often observed patients with this To better understand physiology, the present study theoretically investigated cardiac performance using ventricular–vascular coupling framework analysis. Methods: End-systolic volume elastance (Ees), as chamber contractile property, effective arterial (Ea), lumped measure ventricular afterload, were estimated both normal left circulation. Results: was Ea external stroke work (SW) mechanical efficiency (EFF) under lower compared those Furthermore, Ees–Ea relationship predicted limited reserve terms SW EFF. Such stemmed from impedance due additional connection vascular bed vasculature lack compensatory increase contractility for afterload. Conclusions: Thus, it inferred that had intrinsic disadvantages explain, part, abnormal functional status decline survival following procedure.
