摘要: Risks to aerial insectivores (e.g., rough-winged swallows, little brown bats, and endangered gray bats) were assessed for the remedial investigation of Clinch River/Poplar Creek (CR/PC) system. Adult mayflies sediment collected from three locations analyzed contaminants. Sediment-to-mayfly contaminant uptake factors generated these data used estimate concentrations in 13 additional locations. Contaminants potential ecological concern (COPECs) identified by comparing exposure estimates using point parameter values NOAELs. To incorporate variation parameters provide a better exposure, model was recalculated Monte Carlo methods. The adverse effects estimated based on comparison distribution LOAEL. results this assessment suggested that population-level swallows bats are considered unlikely. However, because endangered, individuals may be significant foraging limited subreaches CR/PC This illustrates advantage an iterative approach risk assessments, fewer conservative assumptions more realistic modeling exposure.
