摘要: Objective: To describe the configuration and use of computerized provider order entry (CPOE) system used for inpatient outpatient care at authors' facility. Design: Description entities, patterns, changes in a production CPOE system. Measurements: The authors extracted analyzed content entities (order dialogs, preconfigured [quick] orders, sets, menus) determined number orders entered their over previous three years. measured these six-month period. They repeated extract two years later to measure entities. Results: configuration, conducted before after first use, consisted preparing 667 5,982 (quick) 513 sets organized 703 menus particular contexts, such as admission diagnosis. Fifty percent 57% quick 13% were within Over subsequent years, volume increased by 26%. Conclusions: These steps time-consuming, but believe they important increase ordering speed acceptability software. Lessons learned process configuring are given. Better understanding patterns may make more efficient because many that created not clinicians.
