摘要: A fundamental function of the thyroid is to extract iodine from blood, synthesize it into hormones, and release circulation under feedback control by pituitary-secreted hormones. This capability thyroid, termed as functionality, can in principle be related severity hyperthyroidism individual patients. In this paper uptake 131I following administration therapy for Graves' disease has been theoretically studied. The kinetics blood have evaluated using a two-compartment model. simplified model appears adequate dosimetry purposes allows one correlate levels increased functionality (hyperthyroidism) with clinically measurable kinetic parameters. An expression derived rate change mass therapy; same form an empirical relationship described earlier work. method presented calculation amount radioiodine activity administered patients order achieve desired final gland. based on measurements after 'low-activity' (1850 kBq) tracer treatment planning.
