Global consensus on keratoconus and ectatic diseases.

摘要: Background Despite extensive knowledge regarding the diagnosis and management of keratoconus ectatic corneal diseases, many controversies still exist. For that reason, there is a need for current guidelines these conditions. Purpose This project aimed to reach consensus ophthalmology experts from around world focusing on their definition, concepts, clinical management, surgical treatments. Methods The Delphi method was followed with 3 questionnaire rounds complemented face-to-face meeting. Thirty-six panelists were involved allocated 1 panels: definition/diagnosis, nonsurgical or treatment. level agreement considered two thirds. Results Numerous agreements generated in definitions, methods diagnosing, other diseases. Nonsurgical treatments conditions, including use cross-linking transplantations, presented stepwise approach. A flowchart describing logical sequence created. Conclusions resulted statements, recommendations It also provides an insight into worldwide treatment
