摘要: Traditional vegetables are key assets for supporting more nutrition-sensitive agriculture under climate change as many have lower water requirements, adaptation to poor quality soils, higher resistance pests and diseases, nutritional values compared global vegetables. The effective use of traditional can be challenged however by lack information conservation status. This study reviewed the uses, growth forms geographic origins cultivated worldwide levels research, ex situ conservation, documentation they received in order identify gaps priorities vegetable diversity. A total 1097 were identified a review Mansfeld Encyclopedia Agricultural Horticultural Plants, including species used leaves (n = 495), multiple vegetative parts 227), roots 204), fruits or seeds 90), other like flowers, inflorescences, stems 81). Root significantly less research attention than types vegetable. Therophytes (annuals) from efforts with forms, while originating Africa 406) Asian-Pacific region 165) notably neglected. Documentation most is largely realized on farm through continued use. Supportive policies needed advance neglected protect further their role agriculture.
