摘要: Structural variability of guttural calls Blue-fronted Amazons (Amazona aestiva) was examined and the contexts in which they were given discussed relative to role these vocalizations might play short-range communication. Recordings obtained at Chancani Reserve, Cordoba, Argentina, during breeding non-breeding seasons. Guttural year round, but more common season when most individuals interacting flocks. Gutturals detected perched parrots contacted each other, take-offs, landings, complex flock flying maneuvers, feeding sessions. subdivided into four types based on structure, none could be clearly assigned a specific context. variation continuous rather than discrete, with within among being similar. Many notes graded one another combined other vocalizations. brief, had sudden onset, wide bandwidth, low intensity. regarded as because their large structural (fewer restrictions sound attenuation degradation) intensity (decreased attraction predators). They also produced by flocks, probably means maintaining contact, enhancing group spacing, coordinating movements individuals.
