摘要: The Cantabrian capercaillie Tetrao urogallus cantabricus, a subspecies of the western capercaillie, is endemic to Mountains northwest Spain. range separated from its nearest neighbouring population by distance more than 300 km. High genetic differentiation compared elsewhere qualifies as an Evolutionarily Significant Unit. An assessment according IUCN Red List categories and criteria showed that Endangered due rapid declines, small size, severely fragmented range. implementation range-wide recovery plan vital for survival this subspecies.
