摘要: Examined in the paper are current and future air quality impacts occurring as a result of development North American trade transportation corridors. Also explored strategies to mitigate these impacts. The focus analysis is on five specific bi-national corridor segments: Vancouver-Seattle, Winnipeg-Fargo, Toronto-Detroit, San Antonio-Monterrey Tucson-Hermosillo. Commodity flow ground freight traffic volumes (truck rail) used estimate pollution emissions associated with cross border each segment. Trade forecasts 2020 trade-related emissions. Due expected improvement criteria pollutant emission controls for trucks locomotives, total nitrogen oxide PM-10 will decline or remain constant compared levels, despite that grow by two four times. also discusses impact six mitigation strategies: alternative fuels heavy trucks, reducing delay, low sulfur diesel use advanced Mexico, empty mileage, expanded longer combination vehicles, locomotives.
