Onychomycosis in eastern Nepal.

摘要: Onychomycosis, a fungal infection of the nail is responsible for up to 50.0% all diseases. Though, dermatophytes are most frequently implicated as causative agents in onychomycosis, yeast and molds increasingly recognized pathogens. This study was aimed know clinical mycological pattern onychomycosis eastern Nepal. Eighty-two clinically diagnosed patients attending Dermatology Outpatient department tertiary hospital over period one year were enrolled this study. Clipping from severely affected skin scrapping active border lesions if associated collected each patient subjected microscopy culture identification fungi. The commonest age group 21-40 years. male: female ratio 2.7:1. Fifty-one had isolated fingernail involvement, while involvement toenails seen 15 patients. Distolateral subungual (67%) type followed decreasing order by superficial white (14.6%), proximal (9.8%), candidal (7.4%) total dystrophic (1.2%). Trichophyton mentagrophytes (28.8%) common pathogen rubrum (21.2%), tonsurans (11.5%), Candida albicans Trichospron beigelii, (9.6%), Epidermophyton floccosum (7.7%), violaceum (5.8%), Aspergillus flavus (3.9%). presentation T. rubruni fungi
