摘要: This study examined possible underlying causes of risk-taking behaviour: optimism bias (the belief in our own superior future life which affects perceived susceptibility to risks) and risk utility. Differences between young older drivers were considered. Both male female respondents showed overconfidence their driving skills. effect increased with age males more optimistically biased than females, consistent previous findings. The over-estimations casualties all traffic accidents observed the survey may result on skills possibly lead invulnerability crashes, through that others are worse off they really are. results also revealed utility scores (computed from measures value seen thrill speed, retaliation against other drivers, impressing friends etc.) correlated positively self-reported moving violations committed. Age gender most powerful predictors committing violations, regardless optimism. (a) For covering entry this conference, please see ITRD abstract no. E207978.
