Transfusion of fresh but not old stored blood reduces infarct size and improves cardiac function after acute myocardial infarction in anemic rats

摘要: Objectives: We recently demonstrated that transfusion of fresh blood to 100 g/L hemoglobin in anemic animals offers cardioprotection after acute myocardial infarction. The objective this study was compare the cardioprotective effects vs. stored when transfused rats Study Design: Randomized animal study. Setting: University laboratory. Subjects: Male Sprague-Dawley weighing 200 –300 g. Intervention: Myocardial infarction induced by coronary artery ligation 49 male g, 38 which were (80 –90 g/L) and 11 with normal levels. Anemic randomized receive (within 4 hrs), (7 days), or no immediately Measurements Main Results: At 24 hrs infarction, cardiac function, infarct size, apoptosis determined. Erythrocyte ATP, 2,3-DPG, hemoglobin, free levels supernatant Transfusion but not significantly decreased size compared undergoing transfusion. Cardiac function survival improved control animals. Analysis red cells showed reductions intracellular ATP 2,3-DPG increased supernatant. Conclusions: prolonged storage negates beneficial transfusion, include apoptosis, improvements short-term model.
