摘要: Ghrelin is a 28 amino acid acylated peptide produced in several organs that binds the growth hormone secretagogues receptor type 1a (GHSR-1a). It acts over wide range of systems, e.g. endocrine, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and immune systems eye. The aim this work to review physiologic pathologic implications ghrelin-GHSR-1a A systematic revision studies published between 2000 2013 English, Spanish or Portuguese MEDLINE, EMBASE Scopus was performed. Search words used included: ghrelin, GHSR-1a, ocular production, iris muscular kinetics, ciliary body, glaucoma, retinopathy uvea. production ghrelin by tissue has been detected both anterior posterior segments, as well presence GHSR-1a. This promotes relaxation sphincter dilator muscles, being effect independent from GHSR-1a dependent on prostaglandins release first case second. Regarding pathology, levels aqueous humor appear be decreased individuals with glaucoma. Moreover, shown decrease intraocular pressure animal models hypertension through In segment, system interferes development oxygen-induced retinopathy, protective vaso-obliterative phase deleterious vaso-proliferative stage disease. Thus, presents possible local regulatory mechanism eye, pathophysiological implications, constituting target for future clinical therapeutic research interventions.
