摘要: PURPOSE. Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating peptide (PACAP) is a sensory neuropeptide in the eye that released by noxious stimuli and considered to be mediator of neurogenic ocular injury response, including miosis. The purpose this study was clarify functional role PACAP iris sphincter dilator muscles. METHODS. Iris muscles were isolated from rabbit eyes, effect on mechanical responses these using isometric tension-recording methods investigated. RESULTS. responded electric field stimulation with contractions composed fast twitch subsequent slow components. Both 27 38 enhanced but neither had an response. both PACAPs response dose dependent. Neither amplitude contraction evoked exogenously applied Ach. For muscle, inhibited induced or phenylephrine, whereas no effect. CONCLUSIONS. enhance cholinergic transmission muscle. induces relaxation muscle direct itself. during inflammatory may induce miosis enhancement
