Embodying martial arts for mental health: Cultivating psychological wellbeing with martial arts practice

摘要: The question of what constitutes and facilitates mental health or psychological well-being has remained great interest to martial artists philosophers alike, still endures this day. Although important questions about remain, it recently been argued in the literature that a paradigmatic prototypical case human would characteristically consist positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishment. Other scholarship also suggested arts practice may positively promote well-being, although recent studies on have not yet reviewed integrated under PERMA framework from psychology further explore explicate possibility. This article therefore contributes by reviewing work determine whether there is substantive support for claim practicing can contribute one flourishing with greater well-being.
