摘要: Cigarette smoking causes the development of chronic bronchitis and obstructive pulmonary disease. We hypothesized that exposure to cigarette smoke might initiate release inflammatory mediators by bronchial epithelial cells. To evaluate this, effect extract (CSE) on IL-8 from cultured human cells was examined. CSE augmented in a concentration- time-dependent manner. Most augmenting activity lost after volatilization or lyophilization treatment. Two major volatile factors smoke, acrolein acetaldehyde, release. Four cell strains were tested showed increased response CSE. In addition, bronchoalveolar lavage performed 11 nonsmokers 12 smokers. concentration greater proximal, samples than distal, alveolar samples, BAL smokers higher nonsmokers. There significant correlation between neutrophil count fluid. These data support hypothesis may induce this contribute airway inflammation
