摘要: Abstract The U.S. EPA is in the final stages of promulgating regulations to reduce CO 2 emissions from electricity generating industry. A major component EPA's regulatory strategy targets improvements power plant operating efficiencies. As expands requirements other industries, including petroleum refining, it likely that efficiency will be critical achieving emission reductions. This paper identifies improvement measures applicable and quantifies potential cost conserved energy for these measures. Analysis at refining sector national-level employing an aggregated notional refinery model (NRM), with aim estimating efficacy reducing emissions. Using this method, roughly 1500 petajoules per year (PJ/yr) fuel savings 650 gigawatt-hour (GWh/yr) (representing 54% 2% industry consumption, respectively) are potentially cost-effective. equates a 85 Mt–CO /yr reduction. An additional 458 PJ/yr reduction close 2750 GWh/yr (27 Mt–CO /yr) not cost-effective prevailing natural gas market prices. Results presented as supply-curve ordering low high versus cumulative
