摘要: Nonhuman primates fed folic acid-deficient diets +/- 30% kcal ethanol were used to determine alcohol effects on megaloblastic anemia development and folate bioavailability. Lower hemoglobin (Hb) red blood cell (RBC) counts higher mean corpuscular volume (MCV) occurred after 13 wk in alcohol-fed monkeys, later controls. Plasma, RBC, liver declined urinary formiminoglutamic acid (FIGLU) was elevated both groups with FIGLU increasing more among monkeys at 38 wk. After 40 wk, the bioavailability of oral /sup 3/H-folic investigated showed increased fecal reduced tritium excretion compared controls while plasma uptake whole body retention similar groups. These observations demonstrate that chronic consumption impairs coenzymes, accelerates appearance hematologic indices anemia, causes possible malabsorption enterohepatically circulated folates deficiency even when other essential nutrients are provided.
