Stable wrapped branes

摘要: We study some wrapped configurations of branes in the near-horizon geometry a stack other branes. The common feature all cases analyzed is quantization rule and appearance finite number static which are partially on spheres. energy these can be given closed form analysis their small oscillations shows that they stable. studied include D(8−p)-branes type-II supergravity background Dp-branes for 0 ≤ p 5, M5-branes M5-brane M-theory D3-branes (p,q) fivebrane type-IIB theory. brane found admit interpretation bound states strings (or M2-branes M-theory) extend along unwrapped directions. check this fact directly particular case by using Myers polarization mechanism.
