摘要: Abstract Adult worms of Ancylostoma ceylanicum and Nippostrongylus brasiliensis were found to possess an active system for the detoxification reactive oxygen intermediates. Xanthine oxidase, which is known produce superoxide anion, was detected in both nematode parasites significant activities. Superoxide thus produced, may quickly be eliminated by dismutase. Both also exhibited presence catalase, peroxidase, glutathione peroxidase efficient removal hydrogen peroxide. Glutathione reductase glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase were, however, low levels Endowment A. N. with these antioxidant enzymes, therefore, enables them evade host's effector mechanism their survival. dismutase nematodes showed marked inhibition KCN and, hence, enzyme appears copper-zinc type.
