Chorea associated with oral contraceptive therapy

摘要: Fernando and Chir 1st reported an association between chorea oral contraceptives (OCs) in 1966. Differential diagnosis of addition to Sydenham include Wilson disease; encephalitis; Huntington chorea; drug intoxication; benign familial pregnancy; systemic lupus erythematosus; Henoch-Schonlein purpura; polycythemia vera; hypocalcemia; hyperthyroidism; carbon monoxide poisoning; cerebral infarction and; intracranial tumor. Chorea can also occur as untoward side-effect OC therapy shown by the case report a 20-year old white woman. associated with unilateraly but has been bilateral 37% cases. 8 24 cases (33%) had prior history rheumatic fever - mean age patient was 22 years (range 16 40 years). The time initiation appearance choreiform movements vary from 6 days 9 months 3 months. Time discontinuation cessation symptoms 5 weeks. Speculations various authors on pathogenesis are described.
