摘要: The coupling of hydraulic and poroelastic processes is critical in predicting involving the deformation geologic medium response to fluid extraction or injection. Numerical models that consider require knowledge relevant parameters for both aquifer aquitard units. In this study, we jointly estimated from pumping test data exhibiting ‘‘reverse water level fluctuations,’’ known as Noordbergum effect, aquitards adjacent a pumped aquifer. joint estimation was performed by BIOT2, finite element, two-dimensional, axisymmetric, groundwater model considers effects with parameter code PEST. We first tested our approach using synthetic set parameters. Results case showed simple layered system, it possible reproduce accurately properties each layer. next applied collected at North Campus Research Site (NCRS) on University Waterloo (UW) campus. Based detailed stratigraphy, five-layer system modeled. Parameter by: (1) matching drawdown individually observation port (2) all ports single well simultaneously. were compared those obtained other means site yielding good agreement. However, shear modulus higher than static modulus, but within range dynamic reported literature, potentially suggesting loading rate effect.
