摘要: Model organisms and in particular the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae have been instrumental advancing our understanding of cell cycle progression. The asymmetric division tight coupling between growth challenged theoretical size structure growing populations. Past efforts centered on modeling steady-state age distribution for from which a can be derived assuming dispersion within each class. Different developments, especially field flow cytometry, allowed determination number cellular properties their joint distributions entire population different subpopulations as well. A new rigorous framework directly dynamics structured populations has proposed, readily extends to more complex conditions, such transient growth. Literature progression is reviewed.
