摘要: [1] Global average cooling and Northern Hemisphere winter warming are well-known climatic responses to the June 15, 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo volcano in Philippines. Here we investigate Southern response. Using National Centers for Environmental Prediction/National Center Atmospheric Research Reanalysis, European Centre Medium-Range Weather Forecasting simulations with Aeronautics Space Administration Goddard Institute Studies ModelE climate model, find that, contrast Hemisphere, there were no strong significant anomalies atmospheric circulation Hemisphere. We examined 50 mb 500 patterns, as well Annular Mode index, found consistent associated volcanic eruption, or previous large eruptions past years, 1963 Agung 1982 El Chichon eruptions. The few that occurred after patterns during an Nino event, which took place same year.
