摘要: Large-scale migration within and to the nineteenth-century British Isles was a feature of dynamic industrial economy. Among migrants who specifically came Scotland, over time increasing numbers from Continental Europe. Facing interactions with long-established Scottish institutions such Presbyterian Church they also became increasingly subject newly-formed state in Edinburgh London. In this article, I will show how we can begin comparatively characterise migrant-host relationships period 1885–1939, by examining growing ‘Scottish’ administration, largely based Edinburgh, ‘social spaces’ associated migrant associational culture.
