摘要: To protect its natural heritage and biodiversity, Vietnam has established a system of ‘special use forest’  (SUFs) which is “the backbone the national protected areas”. The ineffective management SUFs based solely on state leads to decline in biodiversity density forests. Recognizing this, collaborative or ‘co’-management for advocated get more participation shared responsibilities rights between government non-state actors. However, it widely noted that co-management particularly great challenge because nature strong control, decades SUF conflicts, lack capacity initiatives communities negotiate with arrangements. This PhD thesis questions degree can be put Vietnamese ‘adaptiveness’ engender. Conditions economic, political social context surrounding becomes key any understanding how implemented, including insights into may need amended adjust ‘fit’ mono-organisational states.
