摘要: Abstract Introduction We examined the efficacy of implementing a multimodal program aimed at reducing incidence periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) after total arthroplasty (TJA) in mid-size community hospital. Methods An reduction committee (IRC) was formed our hospital November 2010. The IRC consisted two orthopaedic surgeons, an infectious disease specialist, internist with extensive experience perioperative medical management TJA patients, anesthesiologist, control nurse, and additional nurses. Their goals were to 1) evaluate current PJI institution, compare it reported national data, consider measures already place directed preventing PJI; 2) review routinely recently published studies or information obtained from continuing education events related determine if practice changes warranted (based on intervention efficacy, cost, safety) then develop plan implement appropriate alterations protocols using strategy; 3) effect safety newly-introduced strategies PJI. Results In 2008, 1.0%. By 2013, this rate had reduced 0.4%. absolute numbers, 2009, 20 1,150 TJAs developed 12-month period following partial, primary, revision TJA. occurred only 4 1,053 patients. Conclusion found that formation focused evaluating reduce can be effective.
