The purpose of this study is to describe a new practice model (overnight subspecialty radiology coverage) and determine its impact on CT utilization rates in academic community emergency departments. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Overnight (neuroradiology abdominal imaging) attending coverage was instituted at the University Pittsburgh Medical Center 2008. Previously, preliminary interpretations studies performed four departments were provided by residents. Interpretations five either senior resident or contracted teleradiology service.
