摘要: Abstract Waste heat released from human activities (anthropogenic heating) can be a significant contributor to the urban energy balance, and thus play an important role in affecting thermal environment, ambient air quality, other attributes of climate system. To quantify impacts anthropogenic heating we have incorporated it as source term near-surface balance within MM5 mesoscale atmospheric model. This is calculated part planetary boundary layer (PBL) module MM5. Because multiple PBL scheme options available modeling systems enabled two commonly used modules—Blackadar (BL) Gayno–Seaman (GS). Results case study series simulations for Philadelphia suggest that plays formation island, particularly during night winter. Control (without consistently underestimated temperatures observed island effect. Simulations winter contributes 2–3 °C nighttime island. In addition, also found on nocturnal stability structure morning transition. The choice affects magnitude these modeled impacts. winter, example, addition BL resulted 3 °C temperature increase at compared with about 2 °C corresponding GS simulation.
