摘要: A diet rich in fruits and vegetables contains high levels of polyphenols (up to 1 gram per day). Epidemiological studies suggest that a dietary intake selected can be protective against development cardiovascular heart diseases humans. In addition, mechanistic demonstrate possess beneficial properties vitro animal model systems. Due the possible health effects polyphenols, they are currently being sold extensively as food supplements. However, basis for most claims attributed supplements is often very small. Our objective was elucidate relevant mechanisms action polyphenols. We studied tissue distribution vivo physiological quercetin (a polyphenol abundant human diet) after chronic exposure, followed by elucidation biological mechanisms. revealed lungs novel target demonstrated alters fatty acid catabolism pathways rats. lowered tumor incidence colon rats carcinogenesis. Furthermore, major metabolite quercetin, 3-O-glucuronide, opposed effect aglycone on SIRT1 activation , whereas 3-O-glucuronide attenuated glucose utilization cultured adipocytes similar fashion aglycone. Although we used dosages further should normal experiments described this thesis point long molecular humans unknown risk increasing intakes via not thoroughly investigated, there no scientific justification supplementing with large amounts Nevertheless, our approach successfully identified modulation energy metabolism an important process involved mediating associated intake.
