摘要: Wetlands occur where the watertable which underlies much of Perth intersects land surface. Regional groundwater levels have been falling since 1970s as a result lower rainfall and increased extraction causing loss environmental social values. This paper examines scheme to add almost 2 GL/yr treated wastewater infiltration galleries immediately down-gradient Perry Lakes so that wetlands may be restored. Modelling suggest would raised up-gradient galleries, increasing both lake supplies in vicinity. It is not envisaged will enter lakes. Adding nearby trial has shown phosphorus, pathogens organic carbon are greatly reduced within 5 50 m. Nitrogen less but similar those lakes aquifer. estimated about $54 m prices near more than $24M sale price proposed if they contain water. If successful, proposal could test case for use create hydraulic barriers against salt water intrusion into coastal areas.
