摘要: Two cores from the southern South China Sea contain discrete ash layers that mainly consist of rhyolithic glass shards. On basis SPECMAP time scale, were dated to ca. 74 ka, age youngest Toba eruption in northern Sumatra. This link is supported by chemical composition glass, which distinct volcanic supplied Philippines and Sea, but almost identical with chemistry ash. The expand previously known ash-fall zone over more than 1800 km east. dispersal ashes Sumatra both western eastern directions indicates two contrasting wind suggests (1) probably happened during Southeast Asian summer monsoon season, (2) volume erupted magma was larger interpreted.
