摘要: Abstract The hydrothermal synthesis of smectites in the Al–Fe3+ chemical series was investigated at various pHs and temperatures using stoichiometric coprecipitated hydrogels. For first time, within a wide compositional range were successfully synthesized. windows experimental conditions to crystallize such are narrow. Temperatures up 150 °C high pH (around 12) suitable for formation Fe3+-rich smectitic end-member (nontronite), while higher (200 °C) lower (down 7) more Al-rich (Fe3+-beidellites). intermediary compositions, temperature leading pure smectite crystallization should be concomitantly adjusted. Outside these windows, admixtures or other phases obtained. This is probably reason why beidellite–nontronite not extensively synthesized previously.
