The sight test fee: effect on ophthalmology referrals and rate of glaucoma detection

摘要: Abstract Objective: To assess changes, if any, in the numbers of referrals and outcome glaucoma to hospital eye service since introduction sight test fee on 1 April 1989. Design: Review referral records clinical notes. Setting: Referrals Bristol Eye Hospital. Subjects: 51 919 patients referred Hospital between 1984 1992. 9438 case notes 1987 1991 were examined detail. Main measures: Numbers referrals; rate adult true positive referrals. Results: 13.7% 19.0% fewer than expected20after fee. True reduced by same proportion. Conclusions - The being identified as requiring treatment or follow up for potentially blinding have declined nearly one fifth An increased prevalence preventable blindness may result.
