摘要: Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), used in traditional Turkish folk medicine for the treatment of hyperglycaemia, is widely accepted as one medicinal herb with highest antioxidant activity. Accordingly, present study was designed to investigate possible actions ethanolic extract leaves Rosmarinus officinalis on glucose homeostasis and defense rabbits. In first set experiments, hypoglycaemic effects oral administration various doses (50, 100 200 mg/kg) were examined normoglycaemic glucose-hyperglycaemic Optimal effect observed both animal groups a dose mg/kg this activity independent from insulin. another part acute blood serum insulin levels studied alloxan-induced diabetic Of three extract, (200 significantly lowered level increased concentration alloxan-diabetic The last experiments subacute repeated At mg/kg, antihyperglycaemic accompanied by significant increase Furthermore, during 1 week rabbits showed that possessed capability inhibit lipid peroxidation activate enzymes. It concluded probably, due its potent properties, exerts remarkable antidiabetogenic effect.
