摘要: The purpose of the present study was to analyze effects early orthopedic intervention in patients with hemifacial microsomia, clinically as well radiologically, by computed tomographic examination assess soft and hard tissue temporomandibular joint changes. Five patients, one mandibular dysostosis, otomandibular two Goldenhar syndrome, a surgically revised fibroma right mandible that reconstructed costochondral graft, were treated means an activator functional appliance. During appliance treatment, all showed improvement function occlusion, facial asymmetry reduced. Spiral before during treatment provided data on bony muscular deficiencies. volume density lateral pterygoid muscle measured standard tomography software. Evaluation conditions has shown most important factor "lack tissues" can be compensated excellent cooperation therapy. Pretreatment affected significantly smaller than unaffected side. In three measurements between 4 8 years demonstrated side had third, less fifth Although increase, stability, decrease ratio left condylar dimension, volume, found, long-term prognosis cannot given cases extreme deficiencies after cessation growth. Prepubertal success is desirable feasible presurgical or nonsurgical goal for interdisciplinary team approach. From pathologic, we learn much about normal.
