摘要: Background & Aim: The C-mixed triglyceride (C-MTG) breath test has become popular for the detection of impaired intestinal lipolysis as a cause fat malabsorption. However, diagnostic value been questioned because relation between extent malabsorption and corresponding result C-MTG not established. We characterized in rats with variable degrees malabsorption, achieved by feeding lipase inhibitor orlistat. Methods: Rats were fed high chow (35 en% fat) to which orlistat was added amounts 0, 50, 200, 800 mg kg 5 days. Breath CO2 recovery determined 6 h after oral administration (13 BW). Total dietary absorption measured means 3-day fecal balance. Results: Upon administration, total decreased dose-dependent way from 80.2 ± 2.2% 32.8 3.7% (mean SEM; 0 chow, respectively; P<0.001). Correspondingly, CMTG at 84.5 7.8% 42.0 1.5% dose (P<0.001). 6-h appeared highly correlated different dosages (r=0.88, higher than 70%, coefficient variation cumulative excretion large (15%) compared that (5%). Conclusion: correlates significantly rat model lipolysis. considerable interindividual does support its application purposes individual patients.
