摘要: Purpose We conducted a synthetic quantitative review of the published clinical trials on effectiveness antibiotic prophylaxis in third molar surgery. Materials and Methods Electronic databases were searched for randomized controlled trials. The primary outcome variables included alveolar osteitis (AO) surgical wound infection. extracted data analyzed using meta-analytical program with random-effect model. Number needed to treat (NnT) was calculated. Results A total 2,932 patients 16 reported AO as an outcome. occurred 84 1,350 treatment group, frequency 6.2%; 228 1,582 control 14.4%.
