摘要: This chapter focuses on the isolation, taxonomy, and diversity of piezophilic microorganisms their habitats. Based upon several studies authors have indicated that cultivated psychrophilic deep-sea bacteria could be affiliated with one five genera within Gammaproteobacteria subgroup: Shewanella, Photobacterium, Colwellia, Moritella, Psychromonas, which was formally classified as ‘’an unidentified genus’’. The describes taxonomic features genera. For handling piezophiles for further study, JAMSTEC developed a baropiezophile thermophile isolation cultivation system, referred to DEEPBATH system. system consists four separate devices: (1) pressure-retaining sampling device, (2) dilution device under pressure conditions, (3) an (4) device. From analyses 16S rRNA gene sequences after at 65 MPa, two groups bacterial Shewanella Moritella were identified. analyzed microbial community structures by terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism determined is drastically changed different conditions using Piezophiles are characterized high levels unsaturated fatty acids in cell membrane layers, but long-chain polyunsaturated acid (PUFA) like EPA DHA not necessarily required high-pressure growth. closely linked global ocean circulation, some closed oceans, Japan Sea, also contain taxonomically similar microbes open oceans.
