摘要: Seismotectonic characteristics of the transition area between Zagros continental collision zone and Makran ocean-continent convergence (the ‘Oman Line’) are carefully examined. A northeast trending earthquakes terminates belt seismicity just west Oman Line. This seismic extends northeastward beyond Main Thrust coincides with a surface escarpment clearly visible on LANDSAT imagery. Events accurately determined depths along this occurred in upper 20 km crust possibly show shallow (<10°) dip. East Line, Zendan-Minab fault system is relatively aseismic. The Line region may be characterized by underthrusting wedge Arabian shelf edge beneath Iranian or an indentation Arabia into crustal block as promontory. Available seismological geological data cannot uniquely distinguish these two possible tectonic settings. located to northwest region, now collision, appears have been episode Neogene subduction. well-located, intermediate-depth earthquake November 9, 1970.
