摘要: Intermediary metabolism of the monocarbon pool and histidine in normal subjects patients with megaloblastic anemia was studied by continuous measurement pulmonary excretion C/sup 14/O/sub 2/ urinary 14/ after injection L-histidine-2(ring)-C /sup 14/. Cumulative renal for 1 month two approximates 45% amount injected. Within 4 morths dose used this study, resultant average tissue radiation decreases below natural terrestrial cosmic level. Simuitaneous determination cumulative 1-hour time occurrence maximum specific activity may permit rapid unequivocal differentiation between folic acid deficiency vitamin B/sub 12/ pathogenesis amemia. Folic results marked diminution prolongation 2/specific activity, while both parameters are anemia. Measurement during periods reticulocyte response to either or demonstrated but decreased excretion. These observations suggest that 14/o/sub 2/specificmore » is a sensitive index block if T/sub max/ normal, relative partition active pathways oxidation nucleic synthesis. This type breath analysis seems provide quantitative dynamic representation metabolic function which be particularly useful differentinting alterations intermediary occur aciddeficient 12/-deficient (auth)« less
