摘要: Abstract A method is described for the determination of urinary methylmalonic acid and its specific activity following administration 14 C-labeled precursors to humans. The involves ether extraction, anion exchange column chromatography colorimetric separated acid, after coupling diazotized p -nitroaniline. Specific includes liquid scintillation quantitation C content further purification methyl-malonic fraction by thin-layer chromatography. Analytical losses were corrected use 3 H-labelled acid. Day day analytical variance recovery data are presented. Increased excretion was noted in all vitamin B 12 -deficient subjects. While there incorporation into intravenous [2− C] propionate both a normal subject patient, much larger injected dose appeared patient.
