摘要: Bone quality is defined by structural and material characteristics. Most studies on the mandible have focused analysis of characteristics, with insufficient investigation This study tested whether zoledronate affects characteristics newly formed mandibular bone. Thirty-six female Wistar rats were assigned to three groups: sham-ovariectomized (SHAM, n=12), ovariectomized (OVX, treated (ZOL, n=12). The left side ramus all was drilled bicortically. Twenty-eight days after surgery, surviving euthanized mandibles removed. Raman microspectroscopy performed, five spectra per specimen bone analysed. Compared OVX rats, mineral/matrix ratio in ZOL significantly increased (5.43±1.88 vs. 7.86±2.05), while crystallinity (0.055±0.002 0.050±0.002), relative proteoglycan content (0.43±0.10 0.31±0.05), collagen integrity (1.16±0.21 0.72±0.06) decreased. These changes may explain why that received exhibited peculiar biological phenomena such as bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis jaw.
