摘要: Dracunculiasis, guinea worm disease, is an incapacitating disease affecting people in poor, remote areas of Africa, Yemen, and a few remaining the Indian subcontinent where there poor access to protected water sources. The neglect this preventable its belated recognition are analyzed within context changing priorities for health since 1870s, especially shift from paradigm Imperial Medicine Primary Health Care. A global eradication effort took off during 1980s, and, although original target date December 1995 has passed, program achieved remarkable recent diminution number recorded cases, over 99% which now found Africa.
