摘要: Bipolar disorder (BPD) is a serious mood that affects about 1% of the population United States. Twin, family, and adoption studies have shown evidence for genetic component BPD, but monozygotic twin concordance less than one, indicating BPD multifactorialdisorder. First-degree relatives an individual with approximately 5-30% risk developing because shared genes environment. No strong susceptibility loci been located, although some areas interest are currently being evaluated. With increasing information, demand counseling other psychiatric disorders increasing. This study used anonymous surveys individuals their first-degree to assess knowledge, opinions, acceptance counseling. The Health Belief Model was current health beliefs relating BPD. Additionally, using brief educational session, effect education on knowledge assessed. A similar conducted by Dr. Triptish Bhatia in India she has provided her unpublished results so they could be included this document comparative purposes. Data show perceived severity barriers testing were high both populations. susceptibility, benefit, affected higher US Indian population. Ascertainment criteria evaluation procedures samples different countries cannot considered representative respective 'populations'. Results from can applied creation public programs which clients learn more condition, how related genomics what offspring.
