摘要: Objective: We tested the hypothesis that brain pathology is associated with rate of progression physical frailty in older adults. Methods: A total 791 adults participating Religious Orders Study and Memory Aging Project had annual clinical evaluations from which a previously established composite measure was derived autopsy after death. uniform neuropathologic examination included assessment macroinfarcts, microinfarcts, atherosclerosis, arteriolosclerosis, Alzheimer disease Lewy body pathology, nigral neuronal loss. Results: Mean follow-up before death 6.4 years age at 88.5 years. More than 95% cases evidence one or more pathologies. In linear mixed-effect model controlling for age, sex, education, increased approximately 0.12 unit/year (estimate 0.117, SE 0.035, p = 0.012). separate models, presence loss rapid (all values ≤0.010). When these 4 pathologies were considered together single model, showed independent associations accounted 8% variance unexplained by demographic variables alone. Conclusion: The accumulation common contributes to progressive old age.
