摘要: Three Quebec-based ecotoxicological laboratories participated in an intercalibration exercise to assess the performance of a recently-published cost-efficient algal microplate toxicity assay. test series were carried out with six operators (2 from each laboratory) and two reference toxicants (Cd2+ as CdCl2 phenol). Variables included cultivation technique (series 1), presence or absence Na2EDTA growth medium 2), passive active gas exchange during incubation 3). Control variability conferred overall precision 8.7% (coefficient variation obtained for 204 tests). Cadmium (96 h EC50 = 56 µg · 1-1 phenol 69.7 mg reproducibility was reflected by coefficients 24.3% 34.9%, respectively. Algal technique, whether standardized ‘in house’, had no effect on results. Na2EDTA, part medium, significantly ameliorated toxicity. While improved growth, results unaffected. Phenol volatility found have marked influence growth. This can be offset, however, providing appropriate modifications better seal individual wells improve experimental design.
